MSC Seaside Shore Excursion RIP OFF - Ocho Rios & Dunn's River Falls

Image
Ocho Rios & Dunn's River Falls  (Ship Excursion code: OCH29) Duration 5h30 MY REVIEW When we were on the MSC Seaside (beginning of January), we chose to book a shore excursion in Jamaica to the Dunn's River Falls. I had watched YouTube videos before we went on our cruise, to get an idea of what this excursion consisted of. Trust me, when you book this excursion through MSC Cruises, it's not what you watch on YouTube. Apparently, this company that does the excursions for MSC Cruises, is not the same company that does them for the other cruise lines. Even though the description of the excursion indicates that you will visit Dunn's River Falls, and then have lunch by the sea, and a tour, this is not quite what you receive. Even though the description indicates that you'll have a Jamaican lunch by the sea, it's by the sea, but not at a beach. We thought the same thing. That it was going to be at a beach, but it wasn't. It's at a place

Carnival Victory Cruise Ship

Image
I've only cruised with Carnival Cruise Lines, 3 times.. Our first experience with this cruise line was fantastic, on the Carnival Inspiration. However, the 2nd and 3rd time we cruised with Carnival, was on the Carnival Imagination and Paraside, and we didn't like them no where near as much as the first cruise we went on with Carnival. So, from the cruise port, on another cruise line we were on, I was able to see the Carnival Victory cruise ship. Miami, in Florida, is Carnival Victory's home port, and has itineraries that cover 4 and 5 day cruises. The Carnival Victory was built in 2000, and her last refurbishment was in 2010. She is 893 ft. long, and 116 ft. wide. She holds approx. 3,400 passengers, with a crew of 1,100. Weighing a little over 101,500 tons, she is 13 decks tall, but since the ship doesn't have a 13th deck, it's considered deck 14 (The Sky deck). I Changed My Mind - I Don't Want to Go on a Cruise to Roatan Honduras

Originally posted on January 15th, 2014. I've been saying for the last year that I want to go on a cruise to Roatan, Honduras. However, after reading the news about a family of 5 being robbed at gunpoint a few weeks ago, I've now changed my mind. I still want to go on a cruise, but just not to Honduras. Apparently there is a security alert at that particular destination at this time, and it's not safe to be going there, if your plan is to do something that doesn't include being on a shore excursion. This family had rented a car to do their own tour, when gun shots were fired at their rental car. The masked gunman, stole their credit cards, cash, cell phones, and camera. I use to like stopping at different places while cruising, but I'm starting to think that days at sea are much safer. :O

Man Dies When Rogue Wave Hits Cruise Ship

Image
Originally posted on February 16th, 2014. ABC news reported that an 85 year old male cruise passenger, on board the MS Marco Polo, was killed on Friday, February 14th, in the afternoon, after a freak wave hit the cruise ship. The Marco Polo cruise ship, is a smaller British ship, at approximately 578 ft. long, and 77 ft. wide. The news broadcasted that the ship was only 288 ft long, but that information is incorrect. The MS Marco Polo can hold up to 820 passengers, but the ship was about 100 people shy of that amount on this particular cruise. Another passenger was flown off the ship by helicopter, and 14 other passengers were injured. The ship was in the English Channel, when 80 mph winds caused waves to hit the ship. The ship had been sailing on this particular itinerary since January 5th, and was headed back to return to its home port of Tilbury. Most of the passengers that were on board at the time that the rogue wave hit, were from Britain. There was also

Young Man in Restricted Area Dies on Cruise Ship

Originally posted on September 29th, 2014. A 20 year old man, this morning, died when he fell 2 stories from the top of the mast of the Carnival Ecstasy cruise ship. He was in a very restricted area. The ship had returned to the Port of Miami, and for whatever reason, this North Carolina passenger, decided that he apparently wanted to see things from a very high area. Some are skeptical, as to if he was drinking at the time it happened. He was taken to the hospital immediately, however, he died due to his injuries from the fall. For those that are not aware of what the mast is on a cruise ship, it's the pointed portion at the top of the ship in my photo above. No one can even imagine why he was up there. An investigation is being done, but police believe it was an accident. Photo Credit - mine (taken by me)

Body from Cruise Ship Found on Florida Beach

Originally posted December 27th, 2014. A cruise worker became missing on a recent Holland America cruise, and the body of the missing worker, washed ashore on a beach in Clearwater, Florida this morning, when a man that was taking his morning jog, discovered the body of Cliford Minej. Minej was from India, and was an employee of Holland America, and dedicated his time onboard the Ryndam cruise ship. No one knows the reasoning of how or why he became missing, but so far, it's being ruled as an accident. Cruise ships are equipped with monitoring cameras that usually can determine when and where someone went overboard. Minej disappeared from the ship on December 21st. His body was found on December 27th. It's just so sad.

4 Year Old Boy Resuscitated after Drowning on Cruise Ship

Originally posted back on January 4th, 2015. I was over on the Cruise Critic board tonight, and read where a little 4 year old boy drowned in one of the pools on the Oasis of the Seas cruise ship, and the medical staffed resuscitated him, as the ship returned back to Florida in Ft. Lauderdale. The little boy is now in critical condition at a local hospital. My prayers go out to this family, but at the same time, I'm wondering how a child was beneath the water for almost 10 minutes, without anyone knowing, and where in the world was his parents, or the adults that were onboard that should have been watching him? So far, I believe Disney is the only cruise line that has lifeguards by their pools now. Looks like all ships are going to need them. When my daughter took her children on a cruise with us, those children didn't once leave our sight around the pool area.
